Sara Sowell is a video editor, artist and filmmaker. Born in Houston, Texas, Sowell received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and MFA in Cinematic Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Sara has a decade of editing experience with clients in NYC cutting documentary, commercial and branded content, and experimental hybrid films with filmmaker Lily Baldwin. Clients include Condé Nast, Refinery29, Genius, BDG Media, and TAG Creative. In 2019 she completed the edit of feature-length documentary Universe.

Sara Sowell is an artist and experimental filmmaker based in Milwaukee, WI. Her film, performance and installation work reanimates legacies of art and media production with irreverence through photographic abstraction and other interventions. Her work has shown in galleries, artist-run spaces and international film festivals including International Film Festival Rotterdam (2025), Rotterdam, NL; Microscope Gallery, New York, NY; CROSSROADS, San Francisco, CA; The Nightingale, Chicago, IL; The Wexner Center, Columbus, OH; Deluge Contemporary, Victoria, BC; and Baltic Analog Lab, Cēsis, LV.
